Welcoming winter
We’ve entered the month of the winter solstice.
In our home, we call on all things cozy to comfort us through limited and shortening daylight hours. While we’re still harvesting greens from our garden, making pie filling from our cured pumpkins, and appreciating our first significant garlic harvest, we’ll spend the month slowly decorating our home with dried citrus fruit slices, paper snowflakes, and fresh green garlands adorned with foraged berries, twigs, and pinecones.
If I’m careful to not overbook our calendar, this time of year can create the much-needed relationship resets between each family member after a busy summer and before the true cabin fever of deep winter comes.
It’s also a time when I find myself checking in to see if I’m being intentional about what I want our holiday season to feel like.
Next week I’ll be sharing our 2023 Quiet Gifting Guide and template for inviting family and friends to participate in the spirit of needing less and doing more. I wanted to share this with you ahead of time in case you’re seeing the bustle on the roads and in shopping centres and want to approach the season more slowly together.
The gift of ideas, growth, and community are top of my list this year, and while some of those will come in physical packages, the majority of them will be experiences. More on that next week, I wanted to share that if Raise In Place has brought you joy this year, consider inviting a friend into the community during this holiday season.
After next week Raise In Place will break until January, something I’ve been wanting to gift to my sweet family for working so hard to accommodate a new family equilibrium with me as I Bueno Market grows and I continue to be here with all of you weekly, 2 things I am so grateful to have been able to do this year!
I just have one question for you for when we return in 2024 since I’m so grateful for the time and space you create to connect each week:
As Raise In Place grows, I’m exploring different subscriber options that I can add to allow you to personalize your pace as there’s nothing worse than unread gems piling up in your inbox when you’re overwhelmed (This is me! I’ll never have time to read all that I want to). I also want to give more to those who want it or have reached out with ideas like wanting to explore books together.
A heartfelt thank you for sharing your thoughts with me this week.
